The hair on the back of his neck said I was close enough.
Definately the telephoto used here.
I turned around and took this picture, decided to get out of his way, then noticed I had the river below me and a cliff to the other side.  With one foot in the water, doing my best to become part of a trail-side tree,  I watched as the moose passed within touching distance, his eyes glued  on me all the time.  A wildlife photographer always carries an extra pair of underwear along.

BIG GAME

Using a 5x telephoto lens for the photo to the right, this big fellow seemed unconcerned about my presence.  After taking a few pictures, I moved on down the trail in the other direction.  Then I noticed he was slowly following me.
