WHO WE ARE Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is in its 15th year as the women’s ministry organization of the ELCA. Together our ministries change lives because lives have been changed by Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Together we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, society and the world. Together we continue to work for God’s wholeness by building and celebrating mission-focused relationships that are grounded in faith, local and global, empowering and interdependent. Together we accomplish more than we can alone. WHAT OUR MISSION IS In 2005-2009 under the theme “ACT BOLDLY—IN THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT” The Bible study encourages us to consider how the fruit of the Holy Spirit leads us to bold action in Jesus’ name. WHERE DO WE MINISTER We minister right where we live through our ELCA, across the nation and around the world. WHEN DO WE MINISTER We minister 24/7 because the Holy Spirit is constantly working in us. WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO We do what we do because we are called, in Holy Baptism, to bear Christ’s grace and love to a world that so longs to receive it! We have already got so much for which to give thanks, beginning with the grace of God made known to us through Jesus Christ. We are not yet what and where we dream to be. Meanwhile, until every ELCA woman finds a place of welcome and growth through life-changing experience in Woman of ELCA, your bold witness will continue to make a difference! |
