Purpose

The purpose of the Madison Valley Public Library is to give the people served by this library the opportunity to enrich and inform themselves through available library formats.

Eligibility

Any person/adult with a local Madison County mailing address (either post office box or rural delivery address) is eligible to register.  Proof of residency is required.  Children/students under the age of 12 must have parental/guardian consent to register.  Parent/guardian is responsible for lost/damaged items.

Limit on library materials

Patrons are limited to four (4) hardcover books, four (4) video cassettes and two (2) DVDs per registered library user. There is no limit on paperback books or audio recordings.  If you have special needs, please make arrangements with the Librarian.

Item Request

Patrons can put their name on a waiting list for any library materials.  Patron will be notified by phone.  Item will be held for pick-up for two (2) days only before being returned to circulation.

Time limit

All library materials may be checked out for a two (2) week period.  Materials may be renewed for another two (2) weeks either by phone, in person, or on-line.  The only exception would be high demand/new items.

Overdues

No additional items will be issued to a patron’s number until all overdue items are returned.  An overdue notice will be sent.  After due notice has been given, the matter will be turned over to the City Court.

Copyright restrictions

Copyright restrictions are posted on the copy machine.  Please observe these regulations. 

Interlibrary Loan

There is a limit of two (2) Interlibrary Loan books per registered patron at one time.  If you have special needs, please make arrangements with the Librarian.  If you have questions, please read the Interlibrary Loan Policy.

Internet access

Internet access is explained in the Library’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).  Please ask the Librarian for a copy.

Donated materials

All materials donated to the Library will be handled according to the discretion of the Librarian as per needs of our collection and as to publication date, etc.

Miscellaneous

All fishing gear and life jackets are available to visitors and local patrons.  These items may be checked out for a two (2) week period.

Comments/Questions

Patrons may direct their questions/comments to the Librarian or to the Madison Valley Public Library Board of Trustees.
