Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
for the Internet and Computers
- The Madison Valley Public Library
- Does not monitor or have control over the
information accessed through the Internet.
- Does not censor materials, but will enforce the
provisions stated under Section C.
- Cannot provide in-depth Internet or personal
computer training.
- The following guidelines are provided to make you
aware of the responsibilities involved in the use of the Internet:
- Youth (under the age of 18) must have a permission
slip on file signed by a parent or legal guardian. (See Access
Authorization on page 2 of printed policy)
- Time will be limited to 40 minutes per day.
- This site will not be used for commercial
activities.
- Files may NOT be downloaded to the hard drive.
- One person at a time on computer….no hovering!
- Printed pages are 25 cents per page. Pages will
print at the front desk.
- Inappropriate use will result in cancellation of
privileges. Inappropriate use includes, but is not exclusive to the
following:
- Accessing the Internet to transmit threatening,
obscene or harassing materials and pornography.
- Interfering with or disrupting network users,
services or equipment.
- Misuse which compromises system security.
- Violating copyright laws.
- Vandalism
- Card Catalog Computer: This computer is for card
catalog use only.
