Twice a year, 3RTV customers may experience brief signal pixelization, interference or loss of signal as the sun passes behind various satellites providing programming feeds. This phenomenon, known as a solar outage, occurs for a few weeks in the fall and then again in the spring. This fall, the outages begin around October 2 and continue for about two weeks. These service disruptions are temporary, and picture quality is generally restored within a few minutes. Most solar outages occur around midday and last anywhere from five to 15 minutes. Some outages may occur at other times, depending upon the satellite and programming.
